Is Willliam Ruto’s Mashujaa Day Posture Opportunistic?

According to William Ruto’s critics, the Deputy President’s posture of posing with hustlers during Mashujaa day was opportunistic and meant to dupe Kenyans.

In a Tweet @Shininjenga_, “A Multi-billionaire with choppers and immense unaccounted-for wealth, parading jobless youths, poverty-stricken women and children all in the name of votes” was unacceptable.

William Ruto has been facing a lot of opposition from supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta who believe that Ruto is not honest about his “hustler ideology” because the DP stole his wealth from the tax payer and is not therefore a hustler.

On the Other hand, Ruto has tended to ignore his critics as he goes about his business of promoting hustlers across Kenya by purchasing then wheelbarroes, motor-bikes, water tanks and an assortment of other “hustler goodies”.

William arrives at Gusii Stadium accompanied by his wife Rachel Ruto to celebrate the Mashujaa day together with other dignitaries including former Prime Minister Raila odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta

After posing with hustlers to display his support of Kenyans struggling to make a living, DP Ruto arrived at Gusii stadium stepping on a red carpet together with other dignitaries. Unlike when he poses with hustlers dressed casually, Ruto was dressed in a suit, complete with a facemask which he never dons when he is with hustlers.

Ruto has learnt to play the game. He changes attire and mannerisms depending on whether he is drumming up support from hustlers or mingling with dignitaries.

Much depends on how you look at it. Critics say he is a big joker while supporters believe that he is the new messiah who is set to save Kenya come 2022.
